| Supervisor for PhD- and MSc-students Since 2002 I have been supervisor for MSc- and PhD-students participating in the project "Evolution of brood parasitism in the common cuckoo" at NTNU. The project leaders are Prof. Arne Moksnes , Prof. Eivin Røskaft and myself. The aim of this project is to study the coevolutionary interactions between the cuckoo and its hosts in Europe. At the moment, one postdoc (Dr. Frode Fossøy) and three PhD-students (MSc. Anton Antonov, MSc. Johan R. Vikan and MSc. Sajeda Begum) are part of the "Cuculus" research group. In addition, I supervise students working on EPC and intraspecific brood parasitism in passerines. This project is carried out in cooperation with Profs. Moksnes and Røskaft, together with Dr. Oddmund Kleven at UiO.
![]() I also supervise Masters students participating in the project "Snow buntings on Spitzbergen; their behavioural adaptations and breeding biology". This project is led by Prof. Arne Moksnes and Prof. Yngve Espmark. In addition, I supervise MSc-students working on theses within the field of conservation biology and natural resource management together with Prof. Eivin Røskaft and several scientists at NINA including Dr. Kjetil Bevanger. ![]() ![]() Teaching and research From 01.01.2006 and onwards for the next 3.5 years I am engaged as a researcher at the Department of Biology. In addition to research I will also be involved in lecturing duties about 50% of the time. In spring 2006 I was in charge of two undergraduate courses and one PhD course, and in spring 2007 I was in charge of two undergraduate courses and one MSc course. In autumn 2007 I am involved in one PhD course. In spring 2008 I am in charge of one undergraduate course and one MSc course. I also teach in one additional undergraduate course. In 2008 I was invited to be guest professor at Hainan Normal University, China together with Professors Arne Moksnes and Eivin Røskaft (until 2018). Here, the Brood parasitism research group at NTNU have initiated at cooperation with Professor Wei Liang. Our research group has also recently initiated a project on coevolution with Chittagong University, Bangladesh. In the period August 2009 - June 2010 I will stay at CAS (Centre for Advanced Study) in Oslo together with the Brood parasitism research group.
