An intriguing overview of the history of Fermat’s Last Theorem by Simon Singh.
The simple yet proven to be difficult theorem set by Pierre de Fermat in 1637 did remain incomplete for 358 years despite the countless efforts of many mathematician, until 1995. The book begins with Pierre de Fermat and goes through the anecdotal details of both mathematics and mathematicians to the grand final, Andrew Wiles’ proof as a result of 7 years work in isolation.
It is a well written account of the history of the theorem. Recommended as an easy read.
