From: Tom McKinley Subject: Great Book - Thanks! To: skoge@chemeng.ntnu.no, ixp@le.ac.uk Date: Sat, 15 Dec 2007 07:42:41 -0600 (CST) Dear Professors Skogestad and Postlethwaite I don’t think we’ve met but I’m a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Along with six other students in my research group, I just completed a course in Multivariable Control offered in our Aerospace Engineering department. The reason I’m contacting you is to thank you for authoring Multivariable Feedback Control: Analysis and Design. Although this was not the required text for the course, it was clearly our favorite. During the long hours working on our homework assignments and class projects, it was at hand helping us figure out the right next steps. The book is very well written with plenty of examples, plots, and portions of MATLAB code. Realizing the amount of effort you expended in preparing it, it is only fitting that we express our thanks for helping us become better controls engineers. This email is just that - thanks for a job well done! Best wishes to you each day, but especially during the upcoming holiday season.
