AIChE Centennial: ChE Research and Technology - Past and Future

Session 291 - Historical Perspectives on Development of New Processes: Co-Sponsored by Process Research and Innovation, Group 12a
As AIChE marks its centennial, we reflect on past experiences - build on our strengths and learn from our mistakes. This session covers the historical perspectives on the development of new processes in the chemical, petroleum, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and consumer product industry. What circumstances drove the need for developing the new process(es)? What was the impact of the developments on the industry at that time? How was(were) the process(es) first developed and how did it(they) evolve over time? In retrospect, what lessons can we learn from such historical cases?
