AIChE Centennial: ChE Research and Technology - Past and Future

Session 76 - Centennial Super-Session: Major Successes and Exciting Prospects for Technology in Core Industries for ChE
ChEmical engineers have been major contributors to the technologies which form the economic basis for process industry sectors important to the economy of the US and the world. They include fuels and energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and healthcare products, food and consumer products and materials and polymers. While mergers, acquisitions and consolidations have changed the roster of the major corporate entities, these process industry sectors remain critically important as employers of ChE’s and will continue to offer challenges and opportunities for the creation of new technologies, processes and products. In this session the high impact technical accomplishments to which ChE's have contributed in these industry sectors will be highlighted and the exiting future prospects for new technologies will be outlined by technology leaders in five major process industry corporations.
