154a Computational Statistical Mechanics: Past, Present, and Future

Glenn H. Fredrickson, Chemical Engineering, University of California, Santa Barbara, Engr. II, Room 3357, UCSB, Santa Barbara, CA 93106-5080

I will discuss the evolution of numerical approaches to simulating the equilibrium and time dependent properties of simple and complex fluids. A particular emphasis will be placed on rapidly evolving field-theoretic methods, their connection to computational advances in continuum mechanics, and on emerging techniques for bridging length and time scales.
