Extrudate distortions upon exit from the die in batch or continuous processing are commonly encountered and very difficult to correct on a trial and error basis. Here a time dependent source code is introduced which allows the conditions under which flow instabilities are onset in extrusion processes. Comparisons of theory versus experiments will be presented for various well-defined suspensions.
