In the Dept of chemical Engineering, Lamar University, a graduate course “Fundamentals of Sustainability” explains the fundamentals of sustainability, as it is a major issue in the development of human society. The major topics discussed in the course include:

1.Fundamentals of sustainability

2. A chemical engineers guide to environmental issues and regulations

3. What are the effects of the waste coming out of the plant, how it affects the consumer, wildlife, communities etc.

4. Emerging issues on sustainable engineering and science.

Lectures, software learning projects and discussions are combined in integrated teaching and learning. Students work on a sustainability issues face by major industries and are encouraged to bring out innovative solutions to solve real world sustainability problems.
