Abstract

In this paper we consider linear systems with faults. We present anew system decomposition well suited for sensor location in theFault Detection and Isolation problem. We deal with this problemwhen the system under consideration is structured, that is, theentries of the system matrices are either fixed zeros or freeparameters. To such structured systems one can associate a graph. We present a structural decomposition of this graph which extendsprevious results. This decomposition is based on the analysis ofparticular separators. This finer structural decomposition allowsto characterize all the solutions in terms of location of possibleadditional sensors.
