Abstract

This paper shows how H-inf -design methods successfully can be usedfor control of jet engines in a multivariable framework. The workconcludes experiences from both analysis and design studiesconcerning control of the Volvo Aero jet engine RM12, which iscurrently placed in the Swedish air fighter JAS39 Gripen. Theemphasis is on useful methods for design and implementation of\Hinf -controllers. The work considers selection of operating pointsand choice of weight functions for different specific tasks, designof sampled-data H-inf -controllers of low order, and finallyanalysis of the closed loop system.
