Abstract

This paper deals with the design of low order controllers for the tactical transport UH 60 BlackHawk helicopter. Two low order H-infinity loop shaping control design techniques, which are amendableto Linear matrix Inequalities, are presented and discussed. The first synthesis implements acone-complementarity algorithm while the second method exploits sufficient conditions inthe H-infinity problem leading to a simple, non-iterative control synthesis procedure. The validity ofthese control techniques are compared and demonstrated both in terms of computational efficiencyand control performance achieved through a linearized model of the UH 60 helicopter.
